To help save lives by raising awareness of publicly accessible defibrillators, promoting life-saving education, and supporting fundraising efforts through clear, engaging, and positive communications across Weston-super-Mare and surrounding communities.
Key Responsibilities Communications & Messaging Lead on clear, accurate, and compassionate messaging about defibrillators, cardiac arrest awareness, and community safety Ensure all communications reflect the project’s life-saving mission and community values Translate clinical or technical information into easy-to-understand public messages Social Media & Digital Presence Plan, create, and schedule engaging content for social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram) Share real stories, community impact updates, and awareness campaigns Support interactive initiatives (quizzes, mascots, road trips, videos, etc.) that encourage public engagement Respond to comments and messages in a friendly, informative manner (as capacity allows) Campaigns & Awareness Support local awareness campaigns around defibrillator use, CPR, and emergency response Help promote new defibrillator installations, training sessions, and community milestones Align messaging with national health awareness days where appropriate Marketing & Promotion Assist with the creation of simple marketing materials (posters, digital graphics, short videos, leaflets) Promote fundraising events, sponsorship opportunities, and community initiatives Help maintain brand consistency across all platforms and materials Media & Community Relations Support positive relationships with local media, community groups, and partners Help draft press releases, news stories, or community announcements Promote recognition of volunteers, sponsors, and supporters Collaboration & Team Support Work closely with the Project Lead, Fundraising Support Lead, Corporate Ambassadors, and Paramedic Ambassadors Support other volunteers by amplifying their work and achievements Attend occasional meetings or community events when possible Monitoring & Improvement Track basic engagement (likes, shares, comments, reach) to understand what resonates with the community Suggest new ideas to improve awareness, reach, and impact Keep communications up to date and accurate as the project grows What We’re Looking For Passion for community safety and saving lives Strong communication skills (written and visual) Comfortable using social media and basic digital tools Creative, reliable, and community-minded No medical or marketing qualifications required — support and guidance provided. Donate For Defib W-s-M Project {We don't have a specific base or location, and we work remotely around Weston at fundraising events and key Defibrillator Location Sites including undertaking CPR / Defib Training, etc. We have regular meetings at the Air Ambulance Bases and support with conferences.
