Volunteers Required to support social groups and group activities
To provide a warm, welcoming, and inclusive group environment for those who have sight loss difficulties, are registered sight impaired or severely sight impaired or hard of hearing and reside in North Somerset. Our wonderful group leaders generously volunteer to offer a variety of activities made fully accessible to those wishing to take part. Activities include - Swimming Skittles Social groups across North Somerset Gardening New activities being developed

• Honest, reliable with good time keeping skills. • Good listening skills and good communication. • Sensitive and Discreet to safely handle confidential information. • Able to work well with limited supervision. • A pleasant and appropriate manner to work closely with our service users. • A Group Leader works independently at times, so the ability to work on their own initiative.
• Give back to your local community. • Social interaction with a varied range of individuals. • Opportunities to complete further training. • Sight Awareness Training and Hard of Hearing Training. • Ability to change the lives of people with sight loss, across a varied age range. • Develop skills and experience to support job applications, where references for employment can be provided if required.
Vision North Somerset offers flexibility for its staff and volunteers, any availability can be discussed with our Volunteer Coordinator and Peer Support Coordinator prior to commencement. Currently, our groups run for one to two hours weekly, with a small weekly period for group administration.
