Charity Treasurer Trustee voluntary role

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in an engaging, decision making role in the leading independent charity for older people in our area.
As a Trustee you will share our vision and values and will have commitment and drive to promote the wellbeing and independence of older people, and help them to live their best later lives. As the Treasurer you would have additional financial responsibilities and we are seeking someone with robust financial experience. We particularly welcome applications from finance professionals, ideally a Chartered Accountant with knowledge of charity finance. Trustees have the ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of Age UK Somerset, and ensuring that it is solvent, well-run and delivering the charitable outcomes for which it has been set up. In law trustees of Age UK Somerset have three particular duties – compliance, prudence and care.

As part of our board you will support and shape our work and strategic direction, as well as help us achieve our purpose. ie to provide valued services and promote the wellbeing and independence of older people, in all their diversity, helping them live longer and better lives. This is a vital role, helping ensure we can continue our support for older people living in Somerset and North Somerset. As the Treasurer Trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the strategic progression of the charity.
You should be prepared to give the necessary time for reading Board papers, attending around 5 daytime meetings each year (usually Wednesdays) and keep yourself informed about the charity’s activities
