We are looking for friendly people in North Somerset (and Somerset) who would enjoy going out for a short 'walk and talk' with an older person once a week to help reduce loneliness.
We are looking for friendly people in North Somerset (and Somerset) who would enjoy going out for a short walk and talk with an older person once a week. The aim of this role is to help reduce loneliness and feelings of isolation, build confidence and improve the physical and mental well-being of your client by providing good company and the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of being out in the open air. The Walk and Talk service is free and very popular so we are always desperate for new Volunteers to join the team. Full training is given. The key requirement for volunteers in this role is that they enjoy talking and listening.

This role would suit someone who would like to help older people in their community, can spare an hour a week and who enjoys talking and listening. A high level of fitness is not required as the walks are not strenuous but a good level of mobility is necessary. As the role is based on conversation, volunteers need to be able to communicate clearly and confidently in spoken English.
